This novel is told from first person point of view because in the story the narrator uses words such as like my and I in the story Maxwell says,"... the rope is cutting into my wrist, and finally I stop trying and just sit there letting my eyes open up in the dark" (Philbrick#125). He said this because he tried to escape, but his hands are tied to tight and he can't really see anything.
