Theme
The theme of the story Freak The Mighty is to live life to the fullest. Freak and Max had lived life to their fullest when they had gone on quests and got to hang out with each other pretty much everyday. Freak and Max get to go lots of places with each other like to the millpond to see the fireworks on the Fourth of July. "The deal this year is that I get to go with Freak, which Gram thinks is a good idea because she's afraid he'll get crushed or something..."(Philbrick 29). This shows that Max and Freak can be able to go on their adventures and quests without the assistance of their parents. "There are so many people crowded around, and people are lifting their kids to see the fireworks explode like hot pink flowers in the sky, so I just pick Freak up and set him on my shoulders" (Philbrick 32). This shows that Max is generous enough to help Freak see and Freak is generous enough to take what Max is offering. Finally, both Freak and Max are living life to the fullest going on their adventures and quests with their imaginations.
